ABOUT

WHAT IS ITE?

Student chapter

ITE stands for Institute of Transportation Engineers. The student chapter on campus is an organization of students who are striving towards degrees as Civil Engineers with emphases in Transportation Engineering. The ITE chapter on campus is one of many student chapters on university campuses across the United States.

The student chapter of ITE at Fresno State corresponds to the District 6, Central California Section of the parent branch of ITE. The current residing president of the ITE parent branch is Fresno State’s own Dr. Aly Tawfik, who is a professor of Transportation Engineering on campus. ITE helps student members to have the opportunity to network and connect with members of the Parent Branch. There are lots of transportation engineering firms in and around the Fresno area, many of whom regularly and actively hire Fresno State students.

Student members of ITE are involved in some local transportation projects and get the chance to work firsthand on projects near the Fresno State area. Additionally, ITE members participate in ASCE’s Mid-Pac Conference every April. This is a fun time for students to compete against other colleges and learn more about transportation engineering at the same time.
